3 Tip for Moving
1. Get rid of EVERYTHING you don’t NEED!
You don’t have to get rid of everything, but look around and if you haven’t used it in the last year, toss it, donate it, or have a yard sale! Garages nowadays are filled with unused and unnecessary things we don’t even use or need. This will not only make the moving process much easier and lighter, but it will prevent you from hauling junk from one home to another and you can just get rid of it right then and there. We tend to hoard things because we think we’ll need it one day, but that’s not the case. It’s just waste space. I promise you, you will feel MUCH better after it’s done.
2. Sort and organize by CATEGORY
It is SO important to keep organized whilst in the mess of packing and moving. Categorize with different colored markers and different colored packing tape to keep the boxes separated in their own sections. Instead of working on an entire room at a time, focus on one portion of the room first, and then move on. For example, start on the closet in your room, then move on to the dresser, then the desk. This will keep your mind at ease and won’t turn your home into a wreck while in the moving process.
3. Pick a good moving day for EVERYONE
Whether you hired a moving crew, or a few friends are helping you out, it is very important to schedule accordingly and not have any other responsibilities that day. Schedule your move on a day where everyone is off work and there’s no other concerns other than getting from one house to the other. Another tip would be to schedule your move on a weekday. Weekends are the most popular when it comes to moving, and not only are moving rates more expensive, but there’s more traffic on the roads. Plan accordingly and write out a schedule for the day, and it will be a breeze.Published in
