Denver Home Values

Home sellers in Denver are likely to search Google for “Denver Home Values”.  Most people will want to get an approximate value of their home as the first step in the selling process. What is interesting is that the first four results all include automated valuations, which are often highly inaccurate, followed by news articles from the local Denver Post newspaper. Anyone wanting an accurate valuation, will want to speak with a REALTOR. Google seems to be discounting the value provided by a local real estate agent by omitting local real estate companies from the first eight results.

The first Denver real estate company in the results is a company called Denver Home Value Realty. We have seen previous examples of Google heavily weighing keywords that are included in the domain name. This seems to be happening again in this case. Denver Home Value Realty is the only local company to show up in the search results. 

Denver Home Value has a small number of back links, which seems unlikely to be enough to be resulting in their impressive Google ranking. SEMrush shows 78 follow links from 36 domains. A check of their organic search results shows that they are ranking highly for many valuable key words. SEMrush shows that they are ranking for 5300 keywords for which they estimate the cost of traffic to be $1900.

The Denver Home Value website doesn’t seem like it’s been updated for a number of years, although it seems to be using a a smart internal linking strategy which seems to be working well. We spent some time looking through their website and found very few pages devoted to finding home values. Our investigation has determined that the primary reason they are ranking well for the term is based on the domain name.

We would really like to see more local real estate companies and real estate agent websites ranking for local real estate terms. If anyone has an example of a local real estate market where some of the local real estate agents or companies are ranking for local search terms, please leave a comment in this blog article. We would love to analyze the website to see what is resulting in it’s high ranking.

    As a local real estate agent in Denver I have found it nearly impossible to compete with the likes of Zillow, Trulia and Between them and the national real estate companies like Coldwell Banker and Keller Williams it seems hopeless for a local real estate company to rank in Google’s top 10. We have spent upwards of $30,000 on our website and SEO and it seems like we’re just throwing our money away.

    We’ve seen a much higher return on investment by using Google Adwords to target local buyers and sellers. At least with Adwords we know that the client we’re after are visiting our site, with SEO it’s more like “hope and prey” that you’ll get traffic from your investment.

    It’s a shame that Google doesn’t give local real estate agents and companies in Denver some preference over the huge national companies that don’t even represent clients (I’m talking about you Zillow and Trulia)!
