Top 4 Real Estate Companies

Who are the top real estate companies in the nation?

#1 Realogy Holdings Corp

Who are the top real estate companies in 2015/16? According to Swanepoel Power 200, the #1 real estate company is currently Realogy Holdings Corp. If you’re a consumer, the name probably isn’t familiar. That’s because all of the big residential real estate companies have been bought up in recent years and are owned by large companies like Realogy Holdings Corp. Consider this, Realogy owns Coldwell Banker, Century 21, Sotheby’s International Realty, ERA, Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate and Zip Realty. I bet you’ve heard of a few of those companies! According to Realogy Holdings CEO, Richard Smith, the company was involved in 26 to 27 percent of all home transactions in the United States over the past couple of years.

#2 HomeServices of America

The #2 top real estate company is HomeServices of America. Again, you’re probably wondering why you’ve never seen a house with a for sale sign from HomeServices of America. Like Realogy, HomeServices of America owns a number of the countries top residential realty brands including First Weber, Berkshire Hathaway Home Services, Edina Realty, Intero Real Estate, Kentwood Real Estate and about 30 more regional real estate companies spanning 25 states including locations in Florida, California, Missouri, Minnesota and Colorado. According to Wikipedia, the company has more than 22,000 real estate agents across the nation.

#3 Zillow Group

Zillow is not a residential real estate company, however, there is not arguing that they play a major role in residential real estate sales across the country. Zillow acquired it’s rival Trulia in 2014 and posted Q3/2015 revenue of $177 million. Zillow has more than 96,000 paying subscribers to it’s website and the average user spends more than $400 per year on google servies, primarily advertising.

#4 Keller Williams Realty International

Most consumers have heard of the #4 top real estate company, Keller Williams. Unlike Realogy and HomeServices, they market residential real estate using the Keller Williams brand. In terms of  the number of agents, Keller Williams is the leader with more than 112,000 real estate agents. Keller Williams has attracted many top real estate agents from competitors since 2014 when they launched their Mega Agent Expansion, which encourages successful agent teams to expand into new locations. The company is very focused on fair compensation to agents and was one of the first major real estate companies to adopt caps on agent commissions paid to brokerages as well as profit sharing. In 2015, Keller Williams paid out almost $100 million in profit sharing to agents.
